FAQ
This happens when a class package has been purchased and you’ve registered for a first class. Then, if you try to sign up for a class prior to the original class date the system won’t recognize that there’s a package on the account because it’s set the start date for the class package based on the class already signed up for. To fix it, sign yourself out of any registered classes and that will reset the start date and you can then sign up for class at an earlier date.
You should wear something you’re comfortable in. Everyone has different levels of comfort in what they wear, and class will be filled with people wearing all types of different clothes. In hip hop and fitness style classes you may want loose fitting clothes and tennis shoes. In burlesque style classes you might want clothes that are tighter fitting and heels. For contemporary or jazz style classes either loose fitting or tight fitting clothing with or without shoes on your feet.
Tease & Tone, BurlyQ, Dance Party Hustle, Slink & Stretch, Chair Choreography, and Flirty Fundaments would all be great places to start. Keep in mind that no matter what it’s going to take time to learn how to follow choreography, and learn how to move your body. Whatever class type you decide to start with, come in with an open mind.
Most classes start with a warm up and stretch, then moves into the choreography section of class. At the end of class you’ll run the dance either as a full class or in groups, sometimes class will end with a cool down. Teachers will teach the same choreography for multiple weeks in a row so you’ll get a chance to feel more comfortable with the dance.
Our general age guideline is 16-ish and up. However, most folks range from 20’s all the way to 60-70’s! And hey, if you are 300 years old and want to boogie, we got you.
This is to give all of us adults a place to dance with our peers. It’s not that we think your child isn’t capable, or mature enough. There are handfuls of studios catering to the youth set, and not a lot of places just for us. So we want to provide you with a comfortable atmosphere in which to learn.
If you want to start classes, you may begin at any time! We are a drop-in studio, which means you do not have to register for one class that has a specific beginning and ending, such as once a week for 4 weeks, etc.
Choreography will either be new, or if it is being repeated, it is still taught as though you all have amnesia, from the beginning. We always have new people, or people or people who haven’t attended a certain class in a while. So it ensures a level playing field for those groups, while giving returning dancers the ability to learn the same thing again, and get better at it. Each teacher will have their own set of general timelines for how often they change things up, but it’s usually every 2 to 3 weeks. There is no official set schedule for this. But, again, it doesn’t matter. Once you get in to the swing of things, you’ll be one of those people who are learning it again, and the person next to you might be new.
You may simply buy a package of classes and use them any way you would like until they are used up. Everyone taking class will have a profile with us, and you simply add classes to your profile as you wish. We also have a membership option for those wishing to have an auto-payment and attend unlimited classes.
